Currently the Ancestral seat of the Slade Family and home of Sir Benjamin Slade Bt. and Kirsty, the house can boast such visitors as Geoffrey Chaucer, who wrote part of the Canterbury Tales whilst staying here. The beautiful grounds and spacious rooms provide both privacy and a unique atmosphere for any event. Available for exclusive hire, we host weddings, house parties and corporate events with the house serving as a luxurious venue for groups of all sizes.

Our in-house wedding planners can organise every detail of your day - your ceremony and reception, catering and accommodation tailored to your specifications. Maunsel House serves equally well as a conference venue, with a range of facilities for corporate events and activity days.

In addition to the house’s 13 bedrooms, the estate includes three holiday cottages available for wedding guests and self-catering midweek breaks. Based near Taunton, Somerset, our estate is accessible from around the South West.

Wedding Breakfasts & Celebrations

We can cater for all tastes dining alfresco under our roofed Pergola or inside in our magnificent Ballroom and/or Dining Room. You can be as formal, informal, traditional or unconventional as you wish, it is your day and we want you to enjoy it.

For your evening reception your choices are endless. You could have anything from DJ’s to bands, Keileighs to barn dances, fireworks to Chinese lanterns, hog roasts and buffets to posh fish & chips.

The number of guests attending your wedding can be tailored to suit. Inside the house can hold up to 150 people over two rooms or using an extension marquee to the French Windows in the Ballroom. Under our roofed pergola we can seat up to 200 guests and the marquee area can seat up to 250 guests.

Conferences

If you are looking for an extra special conference venue in the heart of Somerset Maunsel House is perfect. Conveniently located off the M5 at junction 24 it is both accessible yet tranquil, the perfect location to de-stress leaving the mind free to focus clearly.

There are 2 individual rooms available, each with their own breakout rooms that can be arranged to meet your requirements; we pride ourselves on flexibility and service.

Included in the daily delegate rate are 3 servings of tea and fresh filter coffee with biscuits, as well as a seasonal buffet lunch menu. Our buffets provide a wide variety of choice and include locally sourced ingredients and traditional West Country fare. We are able to cater for any special dietary requirements; all we ask is for you to inform us at the time of booking.
