Royal Victoria Park

Royal Victoria Park

Below Bath’s Royal Crescent and stretching across 57 acres, Royal Victoria Park is a park of many parts and has something for everyone regardless of age.
The Park was formed in 1829 and formally opened in 1830. It got its name from the then 11 year old Princess Victoria, who was visiting Bath at the time. The Park was privately run until 1921 after which it was taken over by the Bath Corporation.

Its 57 acres were originally laid out as an arboretum and today still contains a superb collection of trees. There are some fine Ornaments, a bird aviary, beautiful bedding displays, a boating pond, tennis courts, a bowling green, and 12 and 18 hole approach golf courses to also be found.

A pond in the park provides the perfect place to sail model boats and feed the ducks.

The incredible children’s play area is very popular with younger visitors. It includes thrilling and imaginative equpiment which has been grouped roughly according to age group. There are slides, swings, climbing frames, a sand pit, tunnel slides, a large tyre swing and much much more.

A skateboard area satisfies the needs of any budding skating pro.

During the summer the park plays host to many events, among which are The Bath Festival, the children’s festival, circuses, the fair, the annual flower show. Hot air balloons also take off creating a splash of vivid color in the evening summer sky.
